About a symbol - Triskele
Triskele (from Greek – “three legs”) is a symbol with long and rich history which emerged around the Mediterranean around the 4th millennium BC. Nowadays it is closely connected to the Celtic culture, as it is believed that it became strongly connected with Celtic people around 500 BC. Triskele symbolizes movement, cycles, regeneration, progress, as it represents three legs all going the same way clockwise, in circle. For the people of the North, whose lives were always under the influence of different cycles (e.g. winter-summer, war-peace, sedentary-nomadic) the symbol of constant cyclic movement held great importance. It also represented 3 worlds in Celtic mythology: spiritual, physical and celestial worlds. Among Celtic people who have strong Catholic roots, triskelion represents the Holy trinity and is the symbol of eternity.
